I engage with art-making through the process of imprinting. It is an act of embedding and leaving behind traces of activities and presences that once lived. Within the residue of imprinting, there resides the tangible verification of unattainable past that has died and gets re-lived through the act of seeing. Unlike cinematography, which is displayed in time, drawing serves as a still record of time: a record of time lapsed where moments fade into one another, thus becoming inseparable. As layers of marks accumulate on a singular plane, the lap of time permeates this plane and introduces the duality of a perpetually fluxing reality: the pitfulness of temporality, and the joy of emergence.
